    There are NO rules. If you like it without a border, then that's all that counts. Personally, I think it looks great just the way it is.

    It is smashing just the way it is but a small (the width of the white x's) white border would make it float.

    I really like your quilt. Whether you add borders or not is your choice. I get my scraps from buying the scraps at the fabric store and Walmart. Usually they are scraps if they are less than 1 yd. You get them mostly at half price. The idea I saw previously for fat quarters would work too.

    I love a framing border before the regular border goes on. It makes the design in the inner quilt stand out so the border does not take away for the actual design in the blocks. I think this would look beautiful on your quilt.

    My "scrappy, antique" Dresden Plate quilt started out with 200 different charm squares bought in a bundle from E-bay.
