    Eddie:
Ahhh what a nice Mom and Dad. I am sure she was very excited when she got it. Tell her Happy Birthday from me and happy quilting. I had to laugh about the horse blanket story, she sounds like me niece. I will have to tell her the story and she will start sewing. She has two horses, lives with my sister in Ithaca, NY and is doing her doctorate at Cornell in genetics.

I , too, have/had a piece of that dark green at the bottom of the stack All I have left is scraps. I wish I had bought the whole bolt. It goes well with so many pieces that I have.

Love, love, love your sewing room. Now that's what I call a Family Affair. I wouldn't put the "old" machine down. Sometimes those make a much better stitch than the newer models. My first machine (a Singer straight stitcher from 1962 is still in terrific condition. My newer machines' stitches can't compare to that Singer. And it's the same service man taking care of all of them. Happy stitching to all of you.

Oops. I should have read through the whole thread before posting. Tell that sweet daughter of yours that she could possibly have a booming business. She could make those saddle blankets to sell. How cool would that be? I can just picture all of the combinations she could make for all different tastes. Also tell her Happy Birthday and congratulations on the new machine.

I've got the double border on the quilt top now, so the top is complete! I need to press it and then start quilting it. Below is a pic of the one of the mitered corners. I think I did a pretty good job of it, considering it was the first time I ever tried it.

Hello again, everyone. I thought I would post an update to say that the quilt is now finished! Yea, my first one! I made it for my oldest daughter, Meagan, and my wife made me a tag that I hand-sewed onto the back corner of it (see pic below). If I had thought far enough ahead I could have just machine stiched it onto the backing before quilting, but now I know for next time.

Now, I'm getting ready to start a quilt for my youngest daughter, Olivia. Thanks much for all the words of encouragement, they are much appreciated!

WOW! it came out beautiful. You really did a fantastic job with the placement oif the colors. It really got done fast too! I love it.
Don't kick yourself about the lable. Like you said you learned for next time. I think it looks beautiful. Me, I learn with every quilt I do.
Hey, just a note for your and your wife. Someone here told me about the thread called "Who Are You?" It is a great thread but very long. In it you will find pictures of probably most of the people you have spoken with on this forum. I went through the whole thread and really had a nice time seeing everyone and their families. You may want to check it out.
