    Default Pick Up Sticks Wallhanging

Finished up this wallhanging. It's for a little hidden nook in our foyer that is really tall and thin. I think it will add a real surprise pop of colour in our entryway, which is done in greys.

I could not figure out how to quilt those sashings and ran across a quilt by Libby Lehman that used satin stitch lines as quilting and thought, Perfect! Her quilts are such an inspiration.

Looks wonderful. The colors are perfect and it will certainly add a color pop to wherever it is hung. I really want to do something like this for accent pillows. I am intrigued by the satin stitched bars. Nice work, as always.

Where can I get this pattern? I have tried to find it under "pick up sticks", "pick up stix", "sticks and stones", etc. and come to dead ends EVERY time. I've been looking for awhile and have about given up. The only place I've seen an actual pattern is an old Keepsake Quilting website, which continually shows it out of stock. I would truly appreciate the help.

Didn't know there was a pattern...I just made it up as I went along. I think it's more a technique than a pattern.

Start with your square and then make a slice and put your 1 1/4" piece in, ironing to the inside. Make another slice across it, lining up the sticks as close as you can. Repeat. At the end, you make the block whatever size you want, because it will be wonky. I did 3 colours with 2 sticks of each.

That is really neat! Great colors and the pebble quilting and satin stitch are perfect foils for the pickup sticks.
