    I did stitch down both sides of the lattuce and was still pleased with the result. It seemed to make the fruit puff up just a bit more. My pattern was different than the one you linked to, and the lattuce strips were cut 1" wide and each side folded to the center making them pretty narrow.

    Thanks again for the compliments. Check page 7 for the link to the actual pattern that I used. Can't take credit for the originality, but I fell in love with them too when I saw them.
