I just love it. Sadly my girls are to old to wear something like that.

Here's a little more detailed instructions on how I made this:

I used New Look pattern 6880. I don't know how old this pattern is because I bought it at a yardsale last year. The pattern envelope doesn't look too "old".

Since I wanted to keep the ruffle intact I didn't cut all the way down the side of the pattern. I cut the pillowcase across the to to open it up.

Then laid the pattern pieces on the folds as directed and altered the slant of the side of the dress so that it sloped down to the ruffle and ended there.

At that point I had both the front and the back of the dress "hanging loose"...only attached at the ruffle. From there I stitched up the side seams as directed and then attached the interfacing.

It only has neck lining & interfacing at the top, the whole dress is not lined. This is supposed to be a play dress so I wanted it light and comfortable. I used simple white cotton from my stash for the neck lining.

It really was easy-peasy and I like it better than the gathered pillowcase dresses.

Since there was a ruffle, there was no hemming!

That is so cute!! I am going to start buying cute pillow cases and make them into dresses for my Grand daughter. I would have never thought of that.
    Thanks. Rose

That's an adorable little dress. I have 5 grandsons, but maybe one day I'll have a granddaughter.

I too have 5 grandsons, and finally got a granddaughter this past Thanksgiving! So there's hope! Now I have 2 more on the way...don't know what they are yet though! :)
