Mine is 3/4yd + 1/4yd put together...some other people make them a little bigger, but that size works just fine for me.

Here's a really neat tutorial for making them quick and easy...I wish I had made mine like this...it would have encased the seams. I'm going to make my next batch using this method.

Here's the link - it's on the bottom, right of the page...it's called the "roll'em up method"

String Quilts, is that like Jelly Rolls? I would love to see a photo, I do charity quilts and we cut out 10 in squares. Each quilt comes out so different.

Thanks! I babysat my grandsons for the entire weekend when their mom went out of town, so the 3 of us made these.

I pre-cut everything before I went to their house, so all we had to do was match up the top and bottom pieces (which I let them do) and then we sewed and ironed them.

Then on Sunday morning we took them all to church and layed them on the alter so everyone could pray over them before we took them to the mission.

It's a mission for men only, but they took the feminine ones too because they have auctions, community sales etc, and said they could use them their or even donate them on to the women's domestic shelter.

I'm definitely going to do the 'roll-it-up' method in the next batch I do.

My grandsons have been sewing with me since they were 3 years old. They started out being the 'thread snipper' and 'scrap catcher', now they're finally old enough to sit at the machine with me closely supervising.

They are 8 and 9 years old and love sewing with grandma.
