Was the one called Whirlwind paper pieced? I saw blocks like that last night. I'd like to try it but I don't know how to paper piece.

Yes, Whirlwind was paper pieced! It's so easy! You will love it! I will post the simple directions for you here. If you don't get it, you can always refer to more detailed directions under the section "Tutorials" here at the forum.

    1) On a piece of tissue paper, draw a 2-1/2" square.
    2) Draw a straight line on the diagonal from one corner to the other.
    3) On the opposing corner draw a straight line from the center of the block to the corner. You now have a 3 piece HST (half-square triangle).
    4) Flip the tissue paper over.
    5) On the wrong side of the tissue paper, place a rough cut scrap of dark fabric (right side up) on the smallest triangle on the right hand side. (The other small triangle should be at the bottom and the largest triangle will be on your left side).
    6) Make sure your scrap is larger than the triangle.
    7) With a piece of white fabric scrap that's been rough cut to the other small triangle, place that scrap (right side down) on top of the other scrap.
    8) Hold both pieces in place and flip the pattern over.
    9) Now sew on the small diagonal line you drew earlier.
    10) Next open the fabric up.
    11) Flip the pattern over. You are now looking at the wrong side.
    12) From a large rough cut scrap like your first piece sewn, place it on your pattern. Hold it in place, flip the pattern over and sew on the diagonal line.
    13) Now flip open the fabric and you have your block!!
    14) Trim the block to within 1/4" of your pattern piece.

There you have it!! Hope you'll try it!! There's nothing hard about it.
