    Default Playing between quilting...

I love making purses & sometimes I need to play...so I decided to get some done this week. I have been playing with T-shirts this year...I made a purse last year for myself from an old T-shirt my Mom gave me years ago (she's no longer here with me & the t-shirt was all YUK under the arms--but put it in bottom of drawer cuz it was sentimental)...so I made myself a purse with it. I've used it all year & washed it several times...T-shirts work well for purses! So I made myself another purse about 4 months ago with a T-shirt my grandson gave me when he started UCF 3 years ago...I'm using it now. I had found some t-shirts at the thrift shop last year when I first started thinking about making the t-shirt purses, so I am starting to use some of them now that I'm playing with purses for awhile. Also, using up some of my cotton fabrics for the area, as when I move, I will be using other fabrics for that area. In other words, using stash! I used a belt that granddaughter was going to throw away (she never wore it) for strap on pink Alabama t-shirt purse, it was perfect for it! All the purses have 4 inside pockets & a key holder. The orange Gators t-shirt purse has 2 pockets on outside on the sides...the others all have a back pocket (didn't take pics of backs but lining fabric is pocket). Gators t-shirt purse is Shelley's Bag by Sewphisti-Cat. The Alabama t-shirt purse is Hobo bag from "Just crafty enough" site free pattern. I just "tweeked" them both abit. The other purses are just my "made up" patterns...most of my purses have always been my "made up" purses...like I said, I like to play. Thanks for looking.

Wow! Great work VickyM, Do you use a stabilizer on the back of the T-shirts? Have you ever made one of those cross body bags? My DD want's one and I need a pattern.

Very nice...I like to make purses every so often. Actually, I think I am going to get started on one soon. My cloth purses kind of take a beating fairly quickly.
