Maybe just a little bubble wrap. They are really sweet!

Thank you SusieQOH. I didn't even think of bubble wrap but you are right a tiny spot of bubble wrap over the cross would keep it from getting caught up in the post office equipment.
Gonna give it a try in the get well card I need to send.

I make mine with scrap 4- 2 1/2" squares into a 4 patch and on the back side, I had a prayer I wrote printed out in yardage by Spoonflower. I cut out the prayers and sew a small border (scrap strings) around the prayer, trim it to 4 1/2". I use white felt as the batting. I buy wooden crosses from Oriental Trading, slip one inside, stitch around the whole edge once, then 1/4" from edge. I put the pocket quilts in a clear plastic envelope to keep them clean. If I mail them, I put them in a card. I keep some, in the envelope, in my purse to give away. I put two in the pocket of the tote bag I put comfort quilts in when I give them away.

I'm not quite sure but I think I made them either 4 or 4,5"

I bought a little kit from Shabby Fabrics. Came with a small golden cross that you sew in to each one and then attach the written prayer. I made them for a luncheon we were having and gifted one to each of my sisters and friends in attendance. You can feel the cross inside as you rub on the cloth. Good reminder to let go let God. My prayer was different yet similar. And as i put the cross in each one I said a specific prayer for the recipient. I have seen several of the ladies since and each one has pulled out her pocket prayer and showed me how she is keeping it near.... We all need a little something extra in these times.....
