    I'm going to go with the first one.... I like how the black outlines the bright colors. Good luck. Looks like a million hours of work to me! =)

    While 1 and 3 are nice (yawn) ... the mosaic really POPS! I love that you have to look to see the flowers - if I was making it for my grandmother I might go with 1 or 3 - but if it was for me, I'd go with the wonderfully unusual design, in fact, I'm going to save a picture of that design so when I finally get to it on my bucket list, that's the layout I'll use. Come to think of it, if my granny were still around, that's the one she'd probably vote for too.

    #3, because the whole quilt will have more bright than black when finished. If you want to try something non-traditional, #2 if you intend to use the black more than just a one-row frame around the outside. The black would look interesting as an overall trellis surrounding 4X4 sets of flowers or more.
