Don't you just love the antique or vintage quilts?
I always wonder who did them and what it was like when they put them together etc.
These are all beautiful.
Just knowing they did not have wall to wall fabric to choose from like we do from our stash.
Ok beam me back Scotty.

What treasures....each and every one of them! I'd so love to have some of my grandmother's or great grandmother's needlework!

I inherited 5 quilts from my GM, but she didn't quilt. I think her mother, my GGM made 4 of them. One appears really, really old - a red and white irish chain. The others are probably 1940ish.

Those older quilts are so great. It's hard to believe what a beautiful job those women (& men maybe) did without all the modern gadgets we have now. Ya gotta applaud that!

I'm loving this thread. Keep 'em coming. Sorry I don't have any antiques to add.

I have 3 circa 1930 quilts, one from my GM, the others from auctions. I bought 3 quilts at a local auction for $5. One is made from floursacks , the inside is a "bag" filled with tiny little balls of cotton. Will post them when I have someone to help with the picture taking.

Thanks, Eddie--and because you asked so nice :) I would be more than happy to show you some details.

I think she must have gotten a shrieking deal on the yellow fabric because she used it in all three quilts. All of them have the yellow "ice cream cone" borders. And one of the quilts has an extra cone on one side--making that border a little bit longer than the other side!

I am lucky enough to have several other quilts she make too.

A double wedding ring

A little dutch boy--I had the companion girl quilt but it was lost/stolen in a move

A close up of one of the boys. Some of the fabrics in the quilt have totally disintegrated and the border is in shreds in some places

The last quilt I had from her was mostly shreds, so I saved what I could and made this bear from it.
