In my little opinion, your quilt is your quilt.. If you want it tied,, then tie it,, if you want it quilted then quilt it.. It is beautiful... and I agree with Maryse,,, so,, just smile,,and make it with your image,,not someone elses,, hopes this helps,,,lol

Hey Lori, It sounds like you have a darling SIL just like I do! Oh well what goes around comes around, they're moments will come! Anyways I love the table runner! Lime green is my color and your hand quilting is fabulous! Mom will absolutely love it!

No matter what your sister-in-law says you did a beautiful job. Anyone would love receiving it.

    Love it. Happy color combination.

Your SIL is a silly goose. My helpful advice: every time she offers some "helpful advice," imagine her honking away like a goose.

Great job! Your quilting looked very nice and even. Does SIL sew or quilt? Maybe she is trying to be helpful but does not know how? Perhaps she would like you to show her how?
Anyway, I agree with everyone else. It is your quilt for your mother, you put alot of effort and love into it, do not let SIL ruin one second of the joy you had while making it. Enjoy your craft and use your talent how you see fit.
