Kaye.....the pattern came from a book by Kim Schaefer named "Flower Festival....50 Applique Blocks to Grow Your Garden" My project was on page 54....Pinwheel Table Runner. I substtiuted the flower applique for one of my chosing and changed the colors from red/white to green/yellow to better match my Moms color scheme in her kitchen. I absolutely love this book and foresee myself using the flower appliques in a lot of future projects. I'm already trying to talk my daughter into letting me add appliqued flowers to the border of the quilt I'm making for her. LOL

Sounds to me like your SIL thinks theres some competition going on that she's not winning. You're runner is BEAUTIFUL and don't let anyone tell you any differently. No, runners should NOT be tied because you have to set things on them. Couch throws are beautiful when tied, some of the older traditional patterns look okay tied, denim and corderoy quilts should be tied, but a runner? Not in my opinion. Besides, it's for your mother. Mothers require time and love not something done quickly for your convenience.

It is wonderful! I know your mom will have a fit over it. ps) Never listen to anyone who "thinks" they know more than you. It stunts your growth. LOL!
You did a lovely job on it.

That looks beautiful to me. I hope my work looks as good. Tieing seems to be the easy way to do it.

You did a wonderful job on the runner. I agree with everyone else, your sister is jealous :hunf: . I bet she would have been the type to have said that SHE suggested the "tying" of the runner, so she could have some credit too. You keep doing it YOUR WAY.
Plus, your place looks like a nice place for a retreat?? hehehehe
