I posted the following pictures under the main section in a discussion about my sister in law hurting my feelings. I had showed her my hand quilting project I was doing for my Mom and she suggested "it'd been easier if you'd "tied it off" and proceeded to give a long lecture/instructional on how to perform this technique. Anyhow...here are some pictures of my project. All I have left to do is complete the binding and I'll have the tablerunner ready for Mom's birthday next week!

My dogs helping out which was possible because the puppy is asleep somewhere in the bushes!

Close of handquilting on the backing, I have some threads to fix

That is so, so pretty! Nice job.

I've heard people say that "real" quilts are tied. I have to say, each to her own, I don't especially like tied quilts. Nothing wrong with them, just my personal preference. If your SIL doesn't like hand quilting, she should tie her lips shut! You do amazing work and she's probably green with envy, to match your project.

Maybe she thought she was being helpful? I think its really pretty and you've done a swell job on the quiting. Note- she only told you how to make it easier- not how to make it prettier! Maybe she was jealous that you had the patience and skill to pull this off, anyway, don't let her worry you. Your Mom will love it!

Wow.... How could anyone tell you how to do this, When it looks so fantastic, I wouldn't change a thing with it.
Just quilt it the way YOU want it for YOUR Mother. Love the beautiful big flowers and the colors are so pretty together.

This is a very unique and lovely gift and I think you did a wonderful job on it. I think your sister was only trying to help you by suggesting a easier way to finish it but I'm glad you went ahead and quilted it as it turned out great!

You did an AWESOME job quilting it! Tied would not look good on this runner. At least, I don't think so. Beautiful!
