    Default Princess quilts

So for my niece's 4th birthday, about 2 months after I woke up and said "I want to make a quilt, how difficult could it be?" - I decided to make her a princess quilt. The backing is fleece, no batting was used because we live in the Houston area and heavy quilts just aren't necessary here as it doesn't get that cold. So anyway, I made the quilt - the one with the pineapples and the scrappy hearts. Instead of quilting them, I whip stitched like you would normally tie a quilt, then I stitched a 1/4" pink satin ribbon, tied them into bows, stitched the loops in place, fray-checked the ends. Wash, rinse, repeat - 81 of these little suckers. I've always loved pink, but I think I got my fill on this quilt.

So a couple of months later, a coworker asked me if I still had some princess fabric left, as she had a goddaughter or whatever who was turning 3 and was having a princess party.....so I had to do another one. This time I did quilt it as my skills had developed further. I printed coloring pages from the internet, pinned them to the quilt and stitched over the drawing. I suppose you could trace it instead, but that's how I did it. It turned out really nice, it was quilted fifteen ways to Sunday, but I was pleased with the end result.

I hope you enjoy the photos. Happy Quilting, all!

Good job. I like the idea of cutting characters or designs out of a colouring book. I think I will use that. thanks.
