Embellish it! |
Thank you Karenm, I would love for someone to love and rescue it. Lots to think about , this quilt is special.

If you want to keep it because it means something to you, but you don't really see yourself "using" it, it could be hung somewhere as art as it is a very nice quilt! Another option (that could be a bit scary) is if you want to still give it some place to shine and recognize the person that made it but you don't want it to take up so much room...you could, very carefully cut out portions and frame it very tastefully and have some kind of label for the front of the picture made that says who made it, when, etc. If there are other members of your family that would like it as well, then you could make several of these framed quilt art pictures that would still have the same heirloom sentiment/value as the quilt. I'm sure there are other ideas as well, but these are the first that come to my mind. Good luck with what you decide!

It's stunning! I'd love to have it ;)

I agree; give it TLC. I just bought an antique quilt; I'm not sure of the age, yet. It's a star design and all hand quilted. It needs a few seams put back together; you can tell it has been really "loved" which is ok. I don't plan on "using her" but I would like to display her if I can find a safe way to do so. I can't believe I only spent 30 for her but unfortunetly the person didn't know the history of the quilt.
I just read where you are considering getting rid of it; I'd love it. I'd be even willing to pay if it's not too much. It would go with the one that I just got and be treasured. |
Maybe a museum would be interested in it.

It's beautiful. Cherish it for a lot of hard work went into making it.

Well Calla, I was just going to say the same thing. I would love to have it. And I would love and take care of it.
