I have one that I repaired with pieces from silk ties. I hang it folded over a chair that is never used. Refold and look at a different section often. It's too beautiful to tuck away somewhere :-D

Your antique quilt is beautiful. Any idea of the story behind it?
A lady who owns an antique shop in our town gave me a tour of her home. Her decorating tastes were so amazing - her home should be featured in some kind of English Country magazine. Anyway, I noticed that she had crazy quilts draped over her very worn and comfy old sofa.
I love crazy quilts - to me they epitomize casual, homey warmth.

Unless it has a very significant meaning to you, if it appeals to your general taste and decor, you could perhaps display it on a wall, put it on a bed in a guest room or if you have a friend you know would REALLY like it, you could gift it to them.

Could you take some close up pictures of some of the stitching and designs? It looks so beautiful and I totally love crazy quilts, and love to make them with a lot of embellishments. Maybe hang and display it and show off all of the beauty and work in it.

A quilting friend of mine also has a very old crazy quilt.
she had it framed and it is hanging in her livingroom, looks wonderful. Depending on the size of yours that might be an option.

I would never cut it into pieces, as suggested. I would display it on a bed in a guest room. It is a treasure and should be displayed. I will be happy to purchase it if it is not to expensive.
