My blocks are 7" square & there will be a total of 36. These 16 form the center unit. They will have a very narrow inner border around them. Then there are 20 more that surround them with another border then a bigger appliques border. The quilt finishes at about 60" square.
We are doing this as a cyber sew. I am hosting it, so I have done the center blocks. The official start date is June 5, but a few of us have JTG (Jumped the Gun). Anyone is welcome to join us. My signature has the link. Thanks for looking & for all the compliments. |
I love the blocks. I can't wait to see all the blocks put together..

Here is mine, hand needleturned, but 10 in square, so my quilt will end up about 84in square
Again, I made my middle first, then basted it to the black |
That's only because I made 8 blocks at this sitting. I tend to work in an assembly-line fashion. Do the same thing for all the blocks at one time. Like I have all the fusible drawn & cut out for all 36 blocks. I did fabric selection for all 16 center blocks at the same time.
Now I am drawing the design on the outer 20 blocks. I had put that off until I got my light box. The next thing I'm doing is sewing the 16 blocks together into the center unit & then I have to decide what I'm going to do about that little inner border. Haven't given it any thought as I wanted to see what the blocks would look lke before making any deciesions. |
I like the way you do your applique first Lesley before attaching to the background
