Hi all - here's a little (12") square art quilt I just finished. I used the confett technique to make the allium then embellished with FMQ and beads. It was really fun to do and I will definitely be doing more confetti. I put a step by step guide to how I did it on my blog if anyone wants to give it a try. Thanks for looking...

Hi K3n, I've looked all around trying to find where you show how to make this piece. I went to blogs but it just takes me back to the orig.msg. pg. Can you or somebody help guide me around?

Thanks, Pat

RedGarnet222 11-15-2011 12:17 PM

Oh my gosh k3n... You are so talented!

This technique would really lend itself beautifully to some Australian native plants such as the Hakea, Callistemon (bottlebrush) and the flowering gum.
NO NO NO I must not start another project NOOOOOOOO:p

boohoofish 11-15-2011 12:48 PM

This is soooooooooooooo pretty and I read your block (very helpful). I really enjoy seeing this technique and might have to try it soon! Thanks for posting.

I grow these in my garden. Planted some new bulbs for more of them this fall but the squirrels keep digging them up We'll see where they bloom next spring...surely not where I planted them..Our squirrels are pretty adventuous gardeners.

Stunning, you really captured the picture. Thanks for sharing your technique, on my to do list, for sure!

I just repainted my bathroom mint green and will be using lavender as accent, this is a perfect quilt for the wall, and you have me thinking, maybe the shower curtain!

k3n 11-15-2011 11:30 PM

Thank you! I will be posting a full step by step tute on my blog in the next couple of weeks for the box.

PS if I get round to doing the thistle (I posted a photo above,) perhaps I'll remember to take step by step pics of that too! And I'd love too see what you come up with for your bathroom Peg!

That is so cool. I love art quilts. Let's face it I love all quilts. But it is quilts like yours that are so full of imagination. I love the way you have the quilting actually be thread painting, and of course you didn't start with a solid background which just adds more texture along with the great texture of those pebbles. I am just delighted with your piece of art.

Babs194068 11-16-2011 03:58 AM

butterflywing 11-16-2011 08:06 AM

i've never done anything in confetti - never saved bits that small and probably won't - but that's lovely. it really captures an allium. what's really nice is that the netting is invisible and the fabric appears to be hanging there. nice lesson on your blog, too. i'm glad i'm following. i want to see if this ends up in your next show.

Shirls4sons 11-16-2011 08:37 AM
