Found it with my Mom's things. I'm reasonably sure she didn't make it.
The seams of the wedges are about 1/4 inch and they are pressed open. I think they are machine sewn. The plate appears to be appliqued with embroidery floss. Can someone name the stitch that was used? |
That is called a coral stitch. I have a book that has all those stitches by hand in it.

cross hatch or feather? I see better in the daylight..

How pretty.
|
I've always called it a feather stitch...
|
It was one of the ones we learned in 4-H and it was called a Feather Stitch.
Until then I thought all embroidery was just the plain crewel line stitch, french knots and satin stitch. We learned a whole bunch and did a sampler runner to showcase each of the stitches. |
Very nice work. You should do something special with it....frame it for your studio, perhaps?
|
And the bird in the center, how beautiful
|
Honor the woman who did all the lovely handwork, and display it, please. piecefully, the old one
|
Not sure what the stitch is, but it is neat.
