I love your daughter's barn quilt! How bright and colorful. Now are you going to make her a quilt of the same pattern to have in her home? Congratulations on such a special family heirloom!

Great job. We were in Iowa a week ago & saw several barn quilts. I would loved to have taken pictures but by the time I mentioned "picture" we were to far down the road.

Wonderful pattern and finished quilt block is amazing!
I don't have a barn, but I have been thinking of a pattern to use to make one to use on the side of my house. In the Appalachian area of NC they have a tour of barn quilts throughout the country-side. |

It's fantastic! Love the idea.

That is lovely; what a great job!

Beautiful. I am in the process of embroidering barn blocks that have a barn and a quilt square within the barn design. The embroidery is done all in dark brown. I love the barns with quilt blocks on them.
|
Why not hang one on your house? or fence? or garage?
One of my neighbors once painted his folding garage door in a geometric quilt block pattern, because he was from Belgium, and he said it reminded him of home! There, and in the Netherlands, the house window shutters once were painted in geometric pattern that had a meaning of identifying the location or village. |
Just beautiful!

Here are some links for ya'll http://www.appalachianrcd.org/quilttrail/index.htm http://www.quilttrailswnc.org/index.html I know there are trails in KY and Ohio, just can't find the links right now. I'm sure they are in several other states as well. Wouldn't it be wonderful for them to pop up on barns all over? |
I don't have a barn, but we live in a rural town with barns/farms all around us and some have barn quilts on them. I just love them....I did however, paint one on a smaller piece of tin, my daughter painted it and we hung it on the front right side of the house, so people driving by can see it...maybe it will start a trend......BTW went to Iowa recently(from Illinois) and on US 80 in Iowa at the rest stop there is a great display - they have tiled one on the floor as you enter the bldg and on a big wall between the rest rooms another tiled one is displayed....lovely....

What a wonderful family project.

It looks great!
Barn quilts are popping up all over the country! It's fun to watch for them! |
Just fantastic.
