Barnraising Scrappy
3 Attachment(s)
I keep trying to use up my 2.5" squares, but the amount never seems to get any less.
This is a 62" x 93" scrappy arranged in the barnraising pattern. I constructed the blocks like log cabins. The flower-outline quilting was traced using a lightbox with a blue washout marker. The rest of the quilting is free form on a HQ16. This is the first time I have tried machine stitching a faux-piped binding. I was surprised at how square the corners turned out. Here is the YouTube video I used: http://thequiltshow.com/daily-blog/1...5bfc3a371c1723 |
I love your layout. Yes, is it disappointed that after all we make with 2" squares, it doesn't make a dent in the stash!!
You did a beautiful job on the quilting. I love the flower idea. Maybe that is what I will do with all the 2 1/2 squares I have.
That is just beautiful with the squares, and the flower quilting.
thank for the utube link, learned something useful. Beautiful quilt.
Beautiful quilting! My stash of 2 and 2.5 inch squares never seems to get smaller either. I think they are like dust bunnies under the bed and multiply themselves at night.
so much work, Beautiful, such tiny squares. you did a fabulous job!
Gorgeous quilt and quilting! It's too pretty to be called a scrappy!
Oh, how very pretty. I love everything about it.

I really like this. The flowers in the quilting were a great idea, and I love the use of the scraps.

I love scrappy quilts. Yours is beautiful!
Boy, this is gorgeous! I really, (really!) hate to have my ignorance show but...you said you added the blocks in log cabin fashion...surely you didn't add each 2" square at a time did you? thanks for any clarifications you can offer. Pen
Beautiful quilt AND, your quilting is also.

Absolutely beautiful scrappy. Quilting is outstanding.
Everything about your quilt is beautiful. Did you quilt it on a long arm or DSM?

Neither a long-arm nor a domestic... The HQ16 is a sit-down machine with a 16" harp. I move the fabric like a domestic, but I have more room with the larger harp area. |
What a great scrappy quilt. I love the layout and quilting!
Everything thing looks great: colors, pattern, quilting ... you did a fabulous job!
