Well, as promised when I asked for opinions re: borders, I'd like to share the story of this quilt.
Six years ago my neighbor asked me to make a photo quilt for her mother in law. All of the children chipped in. I made it. She loved it! This January MIL 's home burned to the ground!! All photos gone, all keepsakes, AND her beloved quilt. All of her children AGAIN chipped in and asked me to re-make the quilt. I searched and found a back up cd with the photos used in the first quilt. Remember, they were no longer available... I even had the EQ5 layout on the disk as well as the photos of the finished quilt. I changed it up just a little from the first one, and tried to stay in a similar color theme. Any way, the label said, This quilt was made for Belva....... Happy Mother's Day From all of your children. May this keep you warm in your new home! May 8, 2011 They tell me she cried harder over the second one than she did the first. On May 6, they poured the concrete to re-build her home. On May 8 she got the first keepsake to put in that new home! First quilt 2005 New quilt 2011 |
I love photo quilts. You did a beautiful job. I actually think the second one came out even better than the first.

What wonderful quilts you have done. I love that you were able to make new memories from old for your mother. You are a very thoughtful daughter and I'm sure she will cherish it forever.
