I just used a flannel sheet for my backing. After I stitched the right sides together of the jean and flannel sheet and turned it right side out. I kind of did a top stitching 1/4" from the edge to give it a "finished" look. I was given a tip when you start sewing the front and back together. sew |_ < in to the seam then turn and sew along the seam around the whole quilt stopping and ending the same way then when you turn the quilt ride side out you can just fold along the |_ areas and it should be even for sewing the top stitch. I hope that makes sense if not let me know and I will try to explain it where it might make more sense. Hope this helps!

Maggie, I cut the usual 2 1/2 inch bias strip of material. Folded in half, and machine sewed it on front. I'm hand-stitching it onto the back. I also used flannel (but as my batting) and added a backing material. I treated it just like a quilt (top, batting, and back) even though technically it's a "comforter"! Hope this helps. If not. You know where to find me

There's just something so rewarding about recycling all that denim into another useful project.
