I haven't done that in years! I hadn't thought of using it this way! Very clever! :D Your quilt will be gorgeous!! :D

Thanks You... To sew the blocks together you sew it with the machine, the star is done by hand with # 10 crocket thread, and gingham material. It is hard to explain, easy if you see it done.

Willi, I did some aprons years ago and loved it, but never found any patterns except one for a border. I've got three bolts of gingham, and would love using it ina quilt and now I have an idea of what to do. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pattern with us.

I did one chicken scratch block years ago. I've got the fabric and patterns to do more but where's the time??

I found books for chicken scratch patterns at

Your quilt is beautiful. As soon as I finish up my current redwork I think it'll be time to move along to more chicken scratch. Although I do have some embroidery bunnies to make. Decisions. How do you choose?

Directions for chicken scratch.

I would never thought of doing a quilt in Chicken Scratch! We used to square dance and I did a lot of it on my dresses and skirts. Also cute on little girls sundresses. That has been 50 years ago, but I am sure I had some kind of pattern.

I am so glad I posted my quilt, didn't know I would get such a big responds. I just love this site, but haven't be joining in on all the conservations. I love all the quilts, everyone is so talanted. Just wanted to say Thank You from the good old state of Texas, and boy is it hot down here.

Your quilt is gorgeous. I've never heard of chicken scratch ... or since I'm a Tennessee girl, never in relation to quilting. What is it and how do you do it?
