I am sooo amazed at the quilting you did on this. I have the top made except I left off the last 2 borders because it was big enough without them. Seeing your quilting and how
it contributed to the looks of the quilt is inspiring me to get the quilting started on mine. :) |
WOWzer's!!! More inspiration. Thanks you for the detail pictures. I am excited about learning this skill and thank you for all your help...so far...you know you will be hearing from me again! LOL :)

I love it. I hope the one I am making is a quarter that nice.

Really beautiful!
|
So nice! Did you mark the feathers or just "wing" them? I am trying to learn but have a long way to go.
|
This is an awesome quilt!

beautiful quilt...but have to admit....The Civil War was not part of the Victorian Era..the Civil War was 30 or 35 years before the Victorian Era.
|
I want to say I"m sorry for the remark I made. I was under the impression the Victorian Era was from around 1880-1885 until about the turn of the century. I check..should have done that first. Seems Queen Victoria is the one that started the Victorian Era in 1837. Again. I"m sorry. Next time..if there is..I'll check my facts first.

Karen McTavish said in a class "Do the hardest thing you can, you won't be disappointed in the results". She was right! I did not piece this quilt. My friend Meg took this baby on and did a darn good job. I loved this quilt from the moment I laid eyes on it in a photo and seeing it in person was a special treat. I wanted to enhance Megs peicing and make the quilt even more beautiful then it already was with my quilting. I wanted to try and keep the theme of the CW era so I went with elaborate Victorian style feathers (the CW was also the Victorian era!), loads of SID, ruler work cross hatching and a few stencils that kind of reminded me of CW era decorative arts. There is more SID than I have ever done before. Every one of those HST in the border was SID. I got very good at using a ruler with this one! So without any further babbling on my part... I have 9 pictures to load. I am really looking forward to all of your comments. Thanks! |
Beautiful quilt; beautiful quilting!
