I like your very cheerful quilt.
To answer your question, I often make scrappy quilts from my excessive collection of scraps. Because I like to use 2.5" squares in some of these, I have started to take my scraps from current projects, cut them into the squares and bag them so that they are ready to go when I am. I also have bags of strips. What I do not like is totally random scrappy. I like things to have some sort of order. Sometimes this means using some non-scrap fabric. The quilt only needs to please the maker and the person it goes to. Your quilt, your decision. |
Another gorgeous scrappy.

I like scrappy and I like some control. I like yours very much. Even with 'uncontrolled' scrappy there is something to tie it together such as a background color or using one color for significant places so they popped out. Lots of room to explore and use scraps. I hope you enjoyed it enough to make some more.

nice quilt...I love controlled scrappy....I did Bonnie Hunter's Mystery quilt this year but after all the blocks were finished I could not live with the colors mixed together...it was a lot of blocks so I made a quilt with the red/black/grey and it looks nice and is lap size....I have not put together the gold blocks but think it will make a nice lap quilt also...I just need more matchy matchy than Bonnie but she makes great blocks. Next year I will wait for the mystery to be finished before I start...it is a lot of work and I need to pick my own colors...lol...

When you are swimming in scraps you just let go and enjoy the outcome.Yours is great........

I love scrappy's, but I also think they need to be controlled with something consistent, whether it is a color or a neutral. The eye needs rest in a pattern.

I really love the scrappiness of this quilt
