Thank ALL of you so much for your encouraging comments. I'm very pleased and must admit I'm wondering if there may have been a recent mention of my reversible quilt as it's generated several nice feedbacks this week, 4+ months after I originally posted the photos. How wonderful! I appreciate every single comment as this reversible quilt was a gigantic learning project done with cast-off scraps from friends. You have all made it totally worthwhile! Thank you all again.

Looks like a really productive war. wars usually do not end up this beautiful.
Amazing work. |
Absolutely WOW WOW WOW from me too!!! Perhaps you could have also called it 'Night & Day' A really fabulous job of using your scraps.
Superb job! So if I sent you MY scraps you'll make me one?? :D just kidding. Really, this is beautiful!!
Stunning work, I loved the first photos, then I saw the back and my jaw is still on the floor at how beautiful and awe inspiring this quilt is.
Wow double sided king size! What a beauty!
Both sides are beautiful. You did such a great job on this, you should be very proud of yourself. Thanks for sharing. BrendaK

I love both sides but especially like the string side, postal packin' mama. Thanks for the photo, I am getting ready to make one as wanted to do the QAYG so this really helps me visualize. I made a rag quilt that was so heavy (queen) that it started falling apart in the washer so I cut it all apart to reuse as a scrap quilt. Something I learned, using designer sheets(especially vintage) to make a large rag quilt with flannel too heavy! I do have a question, do you get a "bump" where the sashing joins the blocks?
great great job, I have lots of scraps, thanks for the idea, going to retreat, fantastic work thanks for sharing
wow wow wow! you don't see too many reversible quilts AND a king size? bless your heart. it is one or rather two GORGEOUS quilts.

Thanks for your kind comments. Actually, the sashings and intersections of sashings aren't lumpy, probably because they're laid across flatly from one block to the next almost like another tiny block. The edges of each already-quilted block just meet each other smoothly under the sashing as it's being attached. I used the QAYG method from the posting "Ditter's string quilt". |
That is fantastic. Beautiful job!
I like how you put your scraps together! Great end result!
Beautiful, nice job. I love it.
So many scraps to use? Two quilts in one? How about strings and stars and QAYG!! Great idea! Great job!!! You rock!!!
Wow, it turned out great! A lot of work, pat yourself on the back!

OHgosh:):) Your quilt is absolutely fabulous!!! The colors are so pretty. My, how many scraps did you go through???? Hopefully, it made quite a dent in your piles. Thanks for all of the hints and links to make this. For sure, I'm going to keep this in mind for a future project. Just beautiful....
Wow! Lots of work but the quilt is very beautiful. And you did two for one! Great idea to use up scraps.

Wow! I'm so impressed and inspired, both sides are beautiful! I'm working on reducing my scraps and your quilt proves scrap reduction can be beautiful!

Love it "declared war on my scraps" I'd have to say that if you didn't win the war you certainly won this particular battle. You have two beautiful scrap quilts there. Awesome job. You should enter it in the fair or a show. It is a great reversable quilt.
Thank you all so much for your encouraging comments! I really appreciate that.
By doing it reversible, it used twice as many scraps with only one batting and taking up the space of only one quilt on the shelf -- leaving more room for more quilts! :) |
Wow Wow Wow!
But did you make a dent in your scrap bag? I love both sides! Was it a trick to get them lined up perfectly when you layered it? |
OMG that is a wonderful 2-sided quilt! Love scrappy all the time, and string blocks are a fave of mine. The buggy wheels has so much sparkle and pop ...
What a beautiful quilt. Both sides are gorgeous. Impressive!

As a newer quilter, I've only done SITD quilting, but I wonder if a meander quilting may lend itself better to having different sizes of blocks on the two sides of a reversible quilt?? Gotta get up my nerve to try non-SITD quilting on my next reversible scrappy adventure. Again, thank you all so much for your inspiring encouragement. |
Beautiful quilt patterns and great way to use up those scraps!
Both patterns.............fantastic!!! What a beautiful quilt you have made. Being a lover of scrap quilts, I would say you have a "Gold Ribbon" for this one. Quite an endeavor and wonderful results. Thanks for sharing this treasure.
