declared war on my scrap bag: resulting reversible QAYG quilt

6 Attachment(s)
Completely reversible king-size quilt; both sides are made totally from scraps.

I used Warm & Natural batting. It's a bit heavy as it's got so many (thousands,
it seemed!) seam allowances enclosed :o so it's nice to be able to "change" the quilt
by just turning it over.

This one is "Buggy Wheels". I used white sashing and white binding on this side.

I dubbed this [string quilt] side "Just the Scraps, Ma'am"! I used black sashing
and black binding on this side.

These two photos show the reverse of each side.

WOW WOW, what a spectacular quilt, great use of scraps. What a great effort!

Love it "declared war on my scraps" I'd have to say that if you didn't win the war you certainly won this particular battle. You have two beautiful scrap quilts there. Awesome job. You should enter it in the fair or a show. It is a great reversable quilt.

DebraK 06-18-2012 01:32 PM

Wow! i believe you won that war. Beautiful!

Neesie 06-18-2012 01:32 PM

WOW from me too! What a great job, and both are beautiful as well. You have made those scraps into a treasure. It appears that you may have quilted each large square then joined with sashing???? That looks like a doable way to quilt a queen.

Absolutely put it in a show. It is wonderful!! Where did youfind the 'Buggy Wheels' pattern? It has so many patterns that just pop out one after another. Wonderful.

Tcharlie 06-18-2012 03:51 PM

That is awesome quilt. I love all the colors, it is very inspiring to me.

quiltingcurious 06-18-2012 03:56 PM

This is one gorgeous quilt! I love that it is fully reversible and both sides are fantastic! this ought to last eons, worth its weight in gold. How did you do white binding on one side and black on the other? Did you make them separately and then sew them together? I guess you are free to fabric binge now that you have used all your scraps!

stitcherlady 06-18-2012 03:59 PM

WOW....love it....love it.....love it. Both sides are equally as beautiful, I wouldn't know which side I would want to use first. Did you use up your scraps?

Diane007 06-18-2012 04:05 PM

Very nice... excellent quilts

Sewfine 06-18-2012 04:09 PM

OMMG!! that many scraps. Both sizes of your quilt is beautiful.

liont 06-18-2012 04:13 PM

Immaculate piecing! You must be very precise for the quilt lines to coincide with the designs on both sides!
