Material Obsession....Well yes...this one is also part of that. Mine looks a bit different than the book because let's face it....it needed to have a bit of “Charisma” flavor added to it. The pattern in the book is called “Dotty For Dresden” So to make the dresdens I used the cheater method they explain in the book....They have a template that you can copy and cut out to me your dresdens..I decided to go down to my local glass place..they made me a template from plexiglass for like 3$. It made the process of cutting them out so much easier. Then I spent time sorting my scraps..picking scraps that appeal to me..LOL...which you see here in all their glory. I also added yo-yo's...many many yo-yos..to give it dimension..I love dimension. Thanks so much for looking! |
Love your quilt and of course your quilting. I just bought a dresdan ruler and added it to my very long "to do" list.
I love your use of yo yo's~~ |
I like doing dresdens....a great way to use scraps and each one looks better than the last........yes, using a hard plastic template is really the way to go...not trying to "make" one out of cardboard. But, having said that, I now have a GO die cutter and it is the berries to cut those blades out...........

Your quilt is just delightful to gaze upon!
Beautiful work as always! I'm curious though. Do you add your 3D elements prior to quilting? Or do you quilt first and then add them? I'm having trouble deciding which to do on a project I have in mind.
It looks like you've really had fun playing in your scraps and have managed to turn out another work of art. It's beautiful.
Beautiful as always.
That is a very happy quilt!
Beautiful!!! |
Beautiful!

It is so beautiful!

Wow! The yo-yo's really do add dimension. I'm preparing to do a black and white zentangle-type quilt and I think a couple well-placed yo-yo's will enhance the final piece. I also like the dresden plate with a smaller blade and a larger center. Thanks again for the inspiration and for sharing your wonderful work.
I love it :). I too am a big fan of Material Obsession.
Just watched a class on Dresden's from Jenny Doan. This ,and your beautiful quilt makes me want to do one. I have plenty of scraps too.
As always your work is fabulous! I love the added POP the yo-yo's add, thanks for sharing your amazing talents with us Charisma!
I'm not a real big fan of dresden plate (oops, excuse the pun ) but this one is lovely. Has a textural quality that is neat. Yoyos, top-stitching plates and batting (a little trapunto?) that makes the plate and your great quilting stand out, all add to the interest. . . and those are my kind of colors. Very nice.
You never cease to amaze me! Wish I could just sneak into your house and watch you work for a day!
This is really beautiful, love the colors and the dimension you added with the yoyo's.
And as always the quilting is awesome! |
Such a bright and happy quilt!
Very sweet quilt, Charismah! I love Dresden Plates and I love the yo-yos you added....very whimsical!
Awesome quilt! Nice job! :)
