I just saw your post about the Brother 1500pq, and if it was a good machine...had a link to the Dresden Plate Finished pictures...wanted to tell you that is a lovely quilt! I just ordered the Brother, due in tomorrow, and I am so glad to read and SEE a quilt done with it! I currently have a Brother PC420, and I love it, but dh is building me a frame, and I wanted a machine for it...I did a lot of research, and it seemed like it would be a good one, and now after seeing your pics, I am even more excited!! I just hope I can do mine even remotely as well... |
Thanks for the compliment! I've never used a frame so I can't comment on how the machine would do with that. My quilting was all done with a walking foot. The throat space made it pretty easy.

Well, now I am even more excited! I checked, and machine is still due in tomorrow, and I plan to try and do some quilting with it, also no frame...I had heard the 9" throat plate helped a lot...and I hope the speed, and "industrialness" (Kif word...) will make the fmq better than some I have done on my brother pc420...with it, the thread tension always seems off, and I end up having to take out a lot of the stitches...I have tried all kinds of threads, even the expensive ones, and still have the problem...so, I really hope the new machine is better...or then it may actually show the problem is...gulp...me... :shock: ...lol... |

The goal was for this to look antique. It's delightfully puckery from the wash. I used the Easy Dresden tool. That's about it for a pattern. I made each blade as work for charm squares I bought from the board. This lead me to 16 inch blocks. Then I had no fabric for borders so I ordered a jelly roll collection from Keepsake Quilting and made piano keyes. The quilting is very plain because I lost my nerve for FMQ. I loved the quilt too much to risk messing it up. Now I'm waiting for some more fabric I've ordered to make pillow cases and dresser scarves for my new furniture that will be here in July. |
that's on my someday list. but if I ever get a king sized bed one day, I won't need to make one as we have one my great grandma made, in PURPLE!! (my favorite color) but yours looks like it could an antique! great job!
