Ooooohhhh! Gonna be gorgeous!!!!

barnbum 01-21-2010 03:28 PM

Oh gosh... you guts/gals are making me want to go start cutting right now!! BUT, the choir director of the local church called and asked if I'd play flute for one of their songs...so I need to goooooo.

sandpat 01-21-2010 04:53 PM

Well...hurry back! You always work so quickyly that if you start cutting now, we'll see a finished quilt in a few days

Your fabric choices are just beautiful. Can't wait to see progress reports.

jdavis 01-21-2010 04:58 PM

Beautiful! I wish I had ideas like that in MY head!

pennyswings 01-22-2010 10:27 AM

That is so creative Karla, I love it!

cindyg 01-22-2010 11:35 AM

Great pattern and I LOVE those batiks.

kd124 01-22-2010 11:32 PM

Karla, go with your design as is; it' gorgeous. You could use log cabins, but I think this would be better. Can't wait to see what you do. Fantastic fabrics.

sandpat 01-23-2010 05:54 AM

I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about your design  (yeah, thanks alot), but have you looked at the quilting motifs in the EQ6 program? There should be a bunch of them....just another thought.. ;)

barnbum 01-23-2010 06:07 AM

sandpat--I'm working on that NOW!!!! How funny is that??? I was working on that Circle of Stars idea and was playing in EQ6--going through lesson 4 to learn more about Custom designs (after working for hours BEFORE reading the lesson  ) I discovered the quilting motifs just 15 minutes ago! Great minds, eh?? Although, I'm not sure you'd want your mind to be where mine is.

sandpat 01-23-2010 06:29 AM

  Yup...great minds and all that...I was headed that was (to EQ) to work on something I thought of for my Feb. doll quilt. Hope it works out easily enough, we'll see!

Good luck with your design, can't wait to see.

It's begun....
I can already see I'll spend waaaay too much time turning squares to make a final decision. I've turned five already just sitting at the table eating pb+j on Saltines....

(I'm taking a tiny break from the horse heads to get this started.)

They will be 5" finished.

Wow...its amazing how much the EQ design looks like the real thing. I can see you sitting there turning and turning those blocks though.... I'm liking how it is coming together!

barnbum 03-06-2010 04:04 PM

Thanks, sandpat. I read the booklet on how to best make the squares, but I do them almost the opposite from the directions. After making them all for "Kayak on the Lake" it's a habit that won't change. I like how they come out better my way. My quilter said the centers weren't hard to quilt over at all. Thank goodness, because I'll have to quilt this one. Ugh.

I'm trying to make the squares for two at the same time. Otherwise there's a great chance I may get distracted by another project before ever finishing the second one.

sandpat 03-06-2010 04:20 PM

Good thought...I have about 4 projects going on at once right now. I work on different ones depending on which room I'm in..

Jingle 03-06-2010 05:36 PM

It is going to be beautiful.

kd124 03-07-2010 07:41 PM

Awesome. Can't wait to see this one finished.

danmar 03-08-2010 12:27 AM

That is so pretty! I love your color choices. Post more pictures of it.

k3n 03-08-2010 12:43 AM

Hi K - this is coming along great! I only discovered the quilting designs in EQ myself yesterday! LOL

barnbum 03-08-2010 02:24 AM

k3n--isn't it fun! It's my favorite place on EQ.
I have more pieces at the machine ready to go.

I took the time this weekend to work on the horse one. Man, I've had to change the thread color six times! These are not two projects I should be jumping between.

ConnieF 03-08-2010 03:22 AM

so nice. great colors

sandpat 03-08-2010 05:04 AM

Yeah Karla...but both are soo much fun!

k3n 03-08-2010 05:56 AM

Oh yes! I can play with EQ for hours! Not sure my quilting skills are up to producing most of those designs though! Still, it's fun to see how a quilt COULD look! LOL Plus I'm playing with doodling some of the simpler ones to adapt for FMQ...
