To my certain knowledge, the Dutch and French use square pillows too. Here in the UK, rectangular is more the norm. But then we don't like to admit to being a part of Europe.

Yes Frau Hahn, I remember those as a little girl in Germany. My mom would "dent" right in the center and say it was perfect that way. I love that you made those. How on earth did you do that? Did you have feathers every where? Those are too sweet!

Certainly the French do not use only square pillows - We have bought all our rectangular (feather and down) pillows locally here with no problem at all.
Alot of our French friends buy them and prefer them to square ones. Good bed linen ranges also carry pillowslips in both rectangular and square shapes.

My friend and I did the "feather transfer" in the back 40 of her cow pasture so when the wind blew up unexpectedly, it really didn't matter. Did have to spit out a few though. One cannot talk and do this. I plan to have these up against the headboard more for show.
