Beautiful quilts so far! I look forward to seeing more.

I surely wished I had some to share but they were all given to another member of the family.

This was made by my Grandmother around 1945. My Mother and her sisters colored the blocks with crayons and my Grandmother set the color. It is all hand quilted.

Love heirlooms! Have a number from both grandmothers.

This one was made by my DH's Great Grandmother Higby in 1912. It is hand pieced but tied instead of quilted. It was made from Great Grandpa's shirts.

Oh, I remember when the embroidered quilts were all the rage. About 10 years ago I bought 15" blocks to embroider "blue roses" and set together on point with blue sashing. I think the quilt will be gorgeous IF, if I ever get the last six blocks done. It takes such a long time to finish a queen sized quilt like that.

I wish I could. My sweet but unaware Mom let us play with great great granmother's quilt until they were destroyed. fortunately the up to 200 year old baby clothes got gentler treatment and are now in a museum.
I stored others of their quilts with better results with a different family. Those are still preserved well, but I do not have access to photos from here. |
Oh what a beautiful qullt and memory.

What a pretty quilt this one is as well. Love the pattern and choice of colors she used.
