Beautiful quilts so far! I look forward to seeing more.

I surely wished I had some to share but they were all given to another member of the family.

This was made by my Grandmother around 1945. My Mother and her sisters colored the blocks with crayons and my Grandmother set the color. It is all hand quilted.

This one was made by my DH's Great Grandmother Higby in 1912. It is hand pieced but tied instead of quilted. It was made from Great Grandpa's shirts.

Oh, I remember when the embroidered quilts were all the rage. About 10 years ago I bought 15" blocks to embroider "blue roses" and set together on point with blue sashing. I think the quilt will be gorgeous IF, if I ever get the last six blocks done. It takes such a long time to finish a queen sized quilt like that.

When we came to India, my grandmother's and great aunts quilts were stored where I dreamed they would be taken care of, but alas... Our younger daughter happened to see the kids in that family literally pulling and stomping in the middle of one particular quilt. It was being torn apart bit by bit--cloth, stitching and all. She took it upon herself to confiscate what was left and take it home with her.

I stored others of their quilts with better results with a different family. Those are still preserved well, but I do not have access to photos from here.

What a pretty quilt this one is as well. Love the pattern and choice of colors she used.
