I love the way you used the stars along with the strips...gives a lot of visual interest to the quilt. Very masculine indeed and you did a great job quilting! I'll have to look for the tear away patterns that you mentioned as I haven't tried FMQ as yet. This is a wonderful quilt!

I wanted something that wasn't feminine and somewhat military. You probably can't see it very well, but some of the strips have US Marines printed on them with pictures of jeeps, helicopters & such. The backing is camoflage fabric material.
This was my first attempt at FMQ & I used tear-away patterns from www.QuiltingMadeEasy.com. It's not perfect & was a lot of tearing away of paper pieces, but I am happy with the results. Now that I have tried FMQ with these, next time I'll try my own stipple pattern. I just needed a little confidence builder on my first attempt. Has anyone else used these patterns? I haven't heard them mentioned on the board. |
