This is beautiful. Is it also hand applique? Bet you're glad to move on to a different project. They will appreciate this. Do they know about this?

How wonderful your quilt is. I'm working on an Hawaiian quilt too, however, mine is made up of 20" blocks. Am putting it together now. It will be handquilted also. If I ever finish, I will definitely post a picture. Thanks for sharing and please don't give up on handquilting. It's beautiful!!!

Your quilt is gorgeous! I did a 24" pillow with Hawaiian applique and both enjoyed it and "hated" it because it took so long . Of course, I only worked on it in waiting rooms for doctors, dentists, etc. Still, it really makes me appreciate the time and effort and LOVE you have put into your quilt!

I visited Hawaii in 2007 and saw many beautiful Hawaiian quilts. Many are slept under just one night and then put up on display in the the house. Interesting custom.

Hello there, Renee765! How lucky I am so be the first to Comment on this magnificent work of art. I come every morning to QuiltingBoard.com to see what's new and savor everything I find. I have a special place in my heart for Hawaiian quilting, so when I saw your post, I went crazy with delight. I know the work it took to produce this and I believe every word that you did nothing else this last year. But, what an heirloom you have created. I have shared your photo with my readers on my Facebook Fan Page as I know they will be astonished at a king size Hawaiian quilt. And, I get the feeling you still don't quite believe it yourself! :) See what you think: http://on.fb.me/XkY1WK I hope you are going to Hawaii for the wedding. What a fine time that will be. There are many quilting collections you might want to visit while you're there. This one, you can go see this morning. You don't have to wait. It's at the Bailey House Museum on Maui. http://on.fb.me/12cdhU7 Thanks for sharing. I am VERY proud of you and your accomplishment. Much Love, Fondly, Robin

Renee 765...I agree with everything that SunbonnetSmart.com stated regarding your Hawaiian quilt. I believe
you used a breadfruit pattern? I finished 2 years ago a queen size Plumeria quilt for my bed. At the time I was working 50 to 60 hours at my job, and due to the hot summer weather I just could not work with it so it took me almost 10 years to complete. I cannot imagine completing a king size in a year however I did have a friend who made a number of Hawaiian quilts in a year or slightly less. Previously I had made several Hawaiian wall hangings and at least 6 20inch Hawaiian style pillows. I had priced some Hawaiian quilts already made in Hawaii and they wanted $10,000 to $15,000. Too rich for my pocket book. Kelela

It is beautiful!!!! I know what you mean about working non-stop on a quilt. The quilt I just finished for a Quilt Show this weekend went from being affectionately called "my quilt" to "That Darn Quilt". As is my husband asking: "are you going to work on 'That Darn Quilt'again? "
