WOW, what a pattern!! My first thought was a variation of the drunkards path.

The others names are interesting, I always have to look up when I hear different names to check them out!!

I love those old fabrics. Interesting pattern. I agree that it must be a variation of drunkard's path.

Lucky you to be working on these old blocks.

I can't answer your question ... though I do think it looks like a beautiful pattern.

Could you please post a picture of the whole quilt, for us to enjoy?

Please? and Thanks!

No, the owner doesn't..I can't remember but the owner either purchased it as a yard sale or it was her mother's & she found it after her mother passed away...it's an impressive quilt..different & I am going to make one for myself. I did research online..there are various fan quilts etc...it's laying the fans or turning the blocks that gives this quilt its' unique appearance...

Also, according to Jinny Beyer, page 388 of "The Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns" it is called "Japanese Fan" by Laura Wheeler printed in the Cincinnati Enquirer on March 27, 1934. She has the center most section and outer rings in black and the middle section in purples.

This is similar to an old pattern, Grandmother's Love Ring. http://craftersamongus.blogspot.com/...-9th-2011.html The one you have pictured is pieced alittle differently, I like your's too. I hope someone knows the name of your block.
