I think (if it were me) I would applique the hexigons onto a white or off white square and then sew them together. I think there is enough color. Just my opinion.

Thanks everyone. I was trying to avoid adding anything because these were her hexagons and she chose the colors. I totally agree it is too much color, but I guess in the '70's everything was brightly colored. Hmmmm... I'll have to think of it some more.

all the different colors work for me except the light green fillers.

all the bright colors make it casual and whimsical. very vintage. like something you'd find on Granny's bed.

I think I would like it if these blocks were surrounded with a soft color such as cream as suggested earlier.

I think you can make it really pretty with the right shade of color and make it a solid. play with it even put it up on design wall. It will come to you

I think the picture where you ask about adding other color flowers looks great. I like having the lighter green as well as the brown for the fillers. I think you'll end up with a bold quilt, to be sure, but I admire you for using all her original fabrics. I'd definitely play with it on the design wall (or floor).

Well IMO I think it would make a nicer looking quilt with a cream color or using the same color (meaning one color) for a boarder around each flower. It's the same pattern as Grandmothers Garden. A Great Depression quilt pattern of the 1930's. Hexagon quilts are so time consuming that you really want to love the quilt when done so maybe you should ask the principal what she thinks about it...when seeing the pieces lied out.
