JanieH 10-04-2012 09:20 AM

Beautiful work as always!

Are you coming to the International Quilt Festival in Houston? Have you ever been? If you are not coming, will you ever come? Inquiring minds want to know!

JJean 10-04-2012 09:50 AM

Your quilting is amazing-awesome-gorgeous!!!

tealfalcon 10-04-2012 09:51 AM

wow wow wow i really really love this quilt...its going to look amazing in your booth at the next show. God has surely blessed you with talent

JoanneS 10-04-2012 10:06 AM

WOW! You chose a perfect 'cheater' fabric to show off your quilting. I'm not sure which side I like better, though. They are both beautiful. Your quilting just gets better and better!

I would bind it with black unless you can find an exact match for the blue.

fireworkslover 10-04-2012 11:47 AM

If you could find a stripe that matches the rings, buy it, use it. Otherwise, I'm thinking you'd have to make it. It can be done, takes some time tho. Second choice, black or charcoal binding would be great too!

Nathan's Mimi 10-04-2012 01:51 PM

Truly Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish to be this good......a girl can wish can't she? Thanks for being an inspiration!

callen 10-04-2012 04:32 PM

WOW !!! Cheater will never enter anyone's mind when they admire your handiwork. You are truly blessed with an amazing talent. Long arm or not, it's the operator that makes the decisions & is ultimately responsible for the results & your results are always AMAZING.

caspharm 10-04-2012 04:38 PM

I love it and the back reminds of the tin plate ceilings in old houses.

Grandma Peg 10-04-2012 04:49 PM

Unbelievable quilting!! You did a great job.

QandE2010 10-04-2012 05:41 PM

Charisma, you have produced a truly gorgeous, exquisite work of art. I love the front, but I think I love the back almost as much. Regarding the binding, take your various choices and preview each one, then decide. I trust that you will make an excellent decision & any of your choice are equally beautiful. Take care.

quiltingnonie 10-04-2012 05:48 PM

What a fabulous way to show your quilting! If that doesn't get you some business at MQX, I don't KNOW what would!!

Sarah in Brooklyn 10-04-2012 05:48 PM

I can't even imagine how you do something like that. Beautiful.

Suzanne Damien 10-04-2012 05:51 PM

The quilting is beautiful, love the white side. :)

Sewbeeit2 10-04-2012 05:55 PM

Wow, you are terrific. Love the words "faith" and "hope" the back is awesome too. Keep up the beautiful LAing

maryellen2u 10-04-2012 06:41 PM

Quilting is amazing!!

Texasjunebug 10-04-2012 07:59 PM

Chrismah, did you put the poly down against the front or the backing? You create the best eye candy I've ever seen! Looking forward to your reply.

HI Texas June BUg...I laid down the legacy 80/20 to the back then the polydown on top so it is against the top. It just gives the right amount of dimension to the quilting...like faux trapunto.
I hope that helps.
Thanks.

You are a very talented quilter. I will be looking at fabric differently from now on. Beautiful quilting and have fun at the show.

One of these days I would love to go! I have had the opportunity to go many times but it's always near halloween and my kids were young...I just couldn't miss out. Now they are getting older I could sneak away and they may not mind. SO I will let everyone know when I do......:)

What is MQX?

Re: Fabric Depot: It's my FAVORITE place to buy quilt fabrics other than a wholesale fabric store on Harry Hines Blvd which I frequent when I'm in Dallas. The Yard Sale room at Fabric Depot in back and out in the yard when the weather is nice are my favorite. I begin there and then look at the other fabrics on the main floor (that have been on sale for 35% off when I've been there). I went during the quilt show a few weekends ago and bought waaaaay too much fabric.

HI LUE,
Thanks so much!
Yes..Cheater fabric means I just used one piece of fabric...well I happened to put a border on this one piece of fabric ...so it's not pieced...it's just one cut of fabric with a border added.

MQX...is Machine quilters EXP...if you google it you will see all the best teachers in the industry are going to be there and many vendors...it's a show that travels across the country. Tons of inspiration.....tons of quilts.

Thanks so much!

Well I am not really sure that it makes the quilt thicker by any significaly amount. What it does is shows the quilting dimension a bit more. I think the loft actually is the same if you use warm and natural. ...it just gives it a trapunto sort of a look without all the work.
IF you over quilt poly it flattens out....so that means it doesn't add any signifiacant amount of loft.....and usually when I use two layers of batting I am quilting heavier.

I hope that helps.

Please know that my family and I greatly enjoy your work and appreciate your willingness to share with those in this very special community.

Hi Happy camper,
Oh thank you so much! I am glad you are no longer a "Lurker" and you are posting to this great community.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support...I truly appreciate that!

Hi Kirsten,
I have used two layers of batting several times...just not two layers of W&N.....usually a thin batting..adn then a poofy batting like poly or wool is what is used.....but it looks great. It works great. Two layers makes your quilt a little more stiff....but after you wash it....totally fine. Teh one on my bed has two layers of batting adn we have washed it several times. It's perfectly fine.

Your quilting is exquisite.

We have a place in NC called MaryJo's that carries quilt-shop-quality fabric at a discounted price. I was in awe the first time I went there. Then, about 4 years ago, I went to Oregon to meet some online quilting buddies. One took me to Fabric Depot. I think 4 MaryJo's would easily fit inside Fabric Depot.

I wanted some new samples for my booth ( next show is MQX....YAY!) .....as soon as I saw this at Fabric Depot in Portland..I knew what I could do with it.....I had a hard time choosing which color way I wanted.....in the end I chose this one. The creamy butter center was just perfect for showcase quilting.
I had never been to Fabric Depot before....WOW! It was a bit overwhelming....there was so much of EVERYTHING there. If you are ever in the Portland area you should stop by there.

I am trying to decide which color of binding to use...the charcoal black color to frame it all in...a pretty stripe? The same blue color as the border? HMMMM?

I used two layers of batting....legacy 80/20 and hobbs poly down.
I hope you all have a blessed day!

I wish I had more time for both piecing and quilting. I wish my quilting was as beautiful as yours. I introduced myself to you at Expo but didn't get much time to talk to you. I am going to try to get to MQX but no guarantees. I will be getting ready for Quilt Camp which is the same week-end. Jere
