I know it's weird but it was 5/8th inch--it was the inside or outside of one of the legs of my walking foot. I am so used to 1/4" but my walking foot doesn't have a nice easy 1/4" line for for my aging eyes to follow.

Yeah--I love the backing flannel. I see that the white is sold out on fabricshack.com (online) but there is still blue available last I checked. It's Irving Street Flannel by Freespirit.
