I put in search box lone star quilt and then on top of the searched page are some words, if you click on images you will find pictures of lone star quilts. The quilt by Northern star has similar coloration as yours. A yellow/beige was used for background and a dark checked for the border. Hope this helps. |
Lighter background too

It's going to be beautiful!
May I suggest that you lay it on top of a light colored sheet to see how it looks and if you have a solid dark sheet or even a large piece of fabric that's dark to lay it on top of to see how it looks. Do I see red in one of those fabrics? Try laying it on top of a red piece of fabric and see if the star pops! |

Thank you for this link I added it to my favorites so I can look at them. I did look through some of the pictures and did get some great ideas. There are pages of beautiful lone star quilts. Mine is going to be a twin size and I wanted to put a smaller star in the corners and then maybe a nice boarder. I'm going to look through more pictures after awhile. Thanks again all of you, Huggies, Fay |

GREAT JOB  :D :D :D |
I'm all for going with the purple tones, either the lighter one in the tip piece plaid or the deeper almost burgandy tone in the other plaid further down in the body of the star. Those blues will really pop against those reddish/blue tones.

Beautiful Lone Star!! I like the plaid a lot!! Good luck. All those suggestions will work...now it's your choice!! :-)

I think lighter would be better...a light sky blue maybe.

It's turning out beautiful! Someone posted this link on a topic yesterday I have had fun playing with it. It might help you decide on what back ground color to use. I personally would use a purple or a darker yellow than what is in the star. I don't think your points will get lost if the contrast is high.
