oh, how funny!

MaryAnnMc 10-07-2012 03:34 AM

Oh, phooo!!! that sure looks like something I would do. Thank goodness it's only a little scrap. Marie Osmond had it right: If you're going to laugh about it later, you might as well laugh about it now.

calicojoan 10-07-2012 03:38 AM

Oh drat, darn, crumb bum!! Thanks goodness it's only a little piece. I ususally have a much larger mess, when I do things like that!:D

MimiBug123 10-07-2012 03:58 AM

LOL with you and not at you! Believe me, I've done worse--including quilting part of one to my bathrobe! I would either turn the edges under or put some rickrack around it and sal that I meant for it to be there. At least it sort of coordinates!

texaspam 10-07-2012 04:26 AM

You probably couldn't do that again if you were trying to do it! I am not sure I would take it out. Maybe applique over it with a quilt label? thanks for the laugh. I could see myself doing something like that.

Kara 10-07-2012 04:30 AM

Definitely better to laugh at oneself! At least it's an easy fix. :)

ghquilter53 10-07-2012 05:46 AM

I have done that soooo many times.

ccthomas 10-07-2012 05:55 AM

Thanks for sharing. Is it in a location that a label could be placed on top???

KyKaren1949 10-07-2012 05:58 AM

Why can't you cut the thread, take it off and then restitch just that area??

Debbie C 10-07-2012 05:58 AM

We don't make mistakes!! That's just where you intend to put your label, right?

Dianemarie 10-07-2012 06:09 AM

done that too -- actually you can cut the piece away from the quilting ! I used small scissors and bright lighting to make sure I cut accurately....then you don't have to rip the quilting.
Nice quilt !

jhoward 10-07-2012 06:50 AM

I was cutting fabric, when I cut a corner(it was folded), Teflon pressing sheet! Oh, boy! Accidents happen....

pollyjvan9 10-07-2012 07:02 AM

Sorry, I haven't read all the posts, but my suggestion is to put the label over that patch!

wendiq 10-07-2012 07:14 AM

Priceless!!! :)

jbj137 10-07-2012 07:32 AM

Leave it, it adds character.

Too funny! Just think of it as creative license. :)

WMUTeach 10-07-2012 08:19 AM

Join the world of mortals Tee-Hee!. We all have done some, dumb or silly or stupid things at one time or another. We are proud of having another member. Beautiful quilting even if you added a little "extra".

terri bb 10-07-2012 08:49 AM

oh that just sucks but i laughed so hard! i think we all have done the same thing and if we haven't we sure will! have a beautiful day!

Yes, that's an easy fix if you trim as close to the stitching as possible on one side of the stitching, then pull it away from the stitching on the other side. Funny though!

alageeps 10-07-2012 10:43 AM

yes I did LOL because I have done something like that. ala

ldh17 10-07-2012 10:50 AM

If it is bothering you....It looks close enough to the edge that you could hand stitch your quilt label over it? Or a heart....the fabrics are wonderful!...even the green triangle! :)

irishrose 10-07-2012 11:13 AM

It looks cute, but not what you wanted. Can you cut close to the stitching with sharp scissors, the pull the theads out?

Very cute quilt.

cminor 10-07-2012 11:32 AM

That is funny :) I have that same fabric from a quilt I made last year!

roserips 10-07-2012 12:54 PM

Been there done that only it was a Kwik Sew pattern envelope and the pattern was in it! I was using invisible thread which I now hate and was doing a lot of meandering. Boy what a mess! Count your blessings it could have been a much bigger piece of fabric. Nice quilt, for a special baby.

blueheavenfla 10-07-2012 01:09 PM

Don't feel alone. When I was taking Home Ec in 6th grade about 60 years ago, I sewed my poodle skirt right into my project. My next lesson was on frog sewing, "rip-it, rip-it, rip-it". It was a lesson that I have practiced many time since so now I rip-it very well. LOL and I'm glad you could laugh about your boo boo also.

jaly3162 10-07-2012 01:45 PM

I did that with a sweatshirt makeover, and I got a piece caught in the inside. I told everybody it was my "signature".

lpsewing 10-07-2012 05:03 PM

The bby quilt is adorable.
I'd leave it there to hear all the comments & reactions
It would be even more fun to hear the silence ...........when your show it off...ha haaa !!

That sounds like a good idea to me. I hate to rip quilting stitches.

solstice3 10-07-2012 06:25 PM

It is a one of a kind. If that is the worst that ever happens, be thankful

JBeamer 10-07-2012 06:45 PM

Maybe somehow you could make a lable out of this. Or not. So sorry for the extra material that hopped on your quilt.

Rose_P 10-07-2012 06:53 PM

I can relate. Thanks for sharing!

QM 10-07-2012 06:56 PM

I've done that. I either put the label there or trim close to the stitching and shred the threads out of there.

KathyPhillips 10-07-2012 09:45 PM

Isn't it amazing how those little critters just show up when we least expect them?

heather1949 10-08-2012 04:25 AM

Its beautiful, and well your mistake just goes to show you are Human lol.

The backing is flannel and the little triangle is from another project that was ready and waiting -- too close to the sewing machine, I reckon.

I'll rip --- tomorrow!

You know, in so many of the movies made today there's always a teaser at the end to give you the hint of the upcoming sequel..... you may be starting something - a glimpse of your upcoming quilt as your signature on each completed one!

QuiltingKrazy 10-08-2012 12:47 PM

Been there and done that! Just recently too! lol
Love the quilt!

sylvia77 10-08-2012 06:24 PM

You're not alone, I've done that exact same thing. Quilt is beautiful!

luana 10-09-2012 04:32 AM

It's such a cute little green triangle. I'm sure it will be happy where ever you put it.

PenniF 10-09-2012 11:24 AM

MTS --- you are definitely an on the fly thinker --- and i too agree - forget un-sewing......that is where i would put the label !!!!

JanTx 10-09-2012 12:52 PM

Mona - that is hilarious! A teaser indeed!
