My 1st Hunter Star Project

Hello, I'm trying my hand at the hunter star pattern and the couple asked for navy blue, spring green and white for their colors. I pulled these fabrics from my stash and made up one block to see how they looked. At 1st I was going to have the blue/green leaf star point against the blue/white section but that looked too busy so I switched it out with the navy batik star point. Now that star point looks lost again the blue/white fabric. What do you all think?

I'm working on that pattern right now. From the one block I can't really tell. I love your fabrics, sorry I'm not more helpful on this.

Hunter's Star

I would say without seeing more that it will be too busy. Remember this is just my opinion. I love the Hunter's Star pattern.

I love the fabrics but I wish we could see more before making a decision :)

I agree with the others. After looking at one block (and realizing I needed to turn up the brightness on my screen to see it more clearly) I would make enough to see the whole star before forming a complete opinion.

I would replace the navy blue with white because I think the blue will get lost.

I would also say make a full star before deciding. It may show up beautifully once you get the 4 blocks together. Or you could hold a couple mirrors in the corner of the one block to see what the outcome will be

As a follow up I just wanted to show you the one that is on the design wall right now to give you an idea of that it may look like if you were to add the white as opposed to the blue.

Hope it helps.

Mirrors in planning.

This is a perfect spot to use a couple flat mirrors. Imagine that two square mirrors are joined by a hinge. Place that "hinged" joint a the corner of the block to get a quick idea of what the block's going to look like when joined together. Also a really quick way to get an idea of changing up the joining of the blocks (simply relocate the mirrors to another corner). This works well when you don't have the fabric, time, want to make more of potential blocks.

Edited to add: By the way, I really love the block the way you have shown it. I believe when put together, it will have a subdued, but very elegant look.

I think I would like more contrast.
