I've never heard of this before, is this kind of like the current product "Pounce"? I'm assuming the cornstarch would be easy to remove - does the nutmeg leave any residue? Hmmm....I have a big bottle of nutmeg that will take me forever to use, I may have just found a use for it. lol

Actually, the challenge with nutmeg is that it doesn't adhere for very long so I had to quickly mark with a pencil. I have never had the nerve to wash the quilt so I don't know if those pencil marks will come out.

The basket quilt design was quite easy because I had the pattern for the markings. The hand quilting part was no problem at all.

That is an amazing quilt for a beginner to tackle. You say it has faults, but I think it is beautiful and I am so glad it didn't put you off!

Oh, my, this is gorgeous. And you know what? Your journey with this quilt is much more typical of quilters in America than what we enjoy now, with our specialty cutters and rulers, not to mention marking pens. Downright historical, your quilt is! You have every right to be proud of it.
