Very pretty! I have real trouble doing fmq as my back of the quilt looks like I have skipped stitches. Any suggestions, please.

From what I have read and experienced first hand, there is a real marriage between stitch length, tension, and the speed in which you move the fabric, especially with curves. I had a similar problem at first, but I kept making sample quilt sandwiches on which to practice. Eventually, it got more comfortable. Also, I made sure I sued the same thread in both top and in the bobbin. FMQ is like a dance; where practice is the only way to really learn the steps.

Very nice!! Your quilting look great!! A lot bettter then my first time. Love the colors you used!

Thanks bstock. I can't wait to try again. Aren't fabric colors just the greatest thing ever? That is half the fun of quilting--choosing the colors.

You did a wonderful job on this quilt! If you could see my first attempt, it was aweful. Yours is great only to be even more so as you continue FMQing!

Thanks Helen. I'm anxious to start another project. I really enjoyed doing this. I can see where as it gets more comfortable, the results improve. I really can't see myself doing an entire quilt this way, but I can easily imagine mixing hand-quilting with FMQ.

Great job on your first FMQ, looks good!!!!

Thanks Cris. Hey, I live in Arkansas now, but I used to live in Lisle, which would have made us practically neighbors.

I wish I could do as well with the free motion.

You can. Just jump right in with both feet. You might like it.

I love what you did. Great job and congratulations! I think the first time is the hardest. I was actually scared to try it the first time. ;0

Thanks for justflyingin to comment. :) Thanks for the kind words. I agree that the first time is the hardest. I'm anxious to try again.
