Lovely heirlooms! Your family sounds like mine. My grandma died last yr at 102. She quilted till she was about 85. I have one of HER mother's quilts but it's coming apart.

You are very lucky to have something like that to look back on. No one in my family quilts and my insperation was my husbands grandmother. Unfortuntaley I did not know her long or very well - but I often thank her in my prayers that she gave me such a gift.

Yes, I definitely feel very blessed. My maternal and paternal grandmothers both sewed and quilted and earned a living from doing it...they both made very elaborate dresses (wedding, prom, etc), quilted and embroidered beaded wedding pillows...you name it, they did it.

And even further back...both their parents owned a general store with fabric, so they started sewing really young.

My mom, and my daughter both enjoy quilting with me...I love that the best!

What a wonderful legacy. I really like your idea of taking pictures of all the quilts.
