What a good time you both had at sewing, together! Great Job she did on her 1st sewing project! The pillow is so cute! I like the colors of the material, too! Miracles do happen! More Miracles Will Happen In Her Future! Thanks for sharing!!!

My 24yo son has Autism and is non verbal. He loves my treadles and if I drag one out he will sit there and sew away like nobodies business!! In fact the quilt in my avatar is his and he sewn a few of the seams together for it!!
He loves anything that I do, he helped me put hood pins on my Shelby Mustang and helped sand on my hot rod when I was painting it. The headers (exhaust) on my car was painted by him and my wife asked me if I was going to redo them because of the runs in them I told her "Heck no he wanted the runs there and thats where they are staying!" But he loves to watching me sew and is the happiest when he gets to treadle. I think it is wonderful that she overcame some of her fears and ventured out in strange territory. For Kids with Autism they strive on routines and schedules and never drift far from them. Billy |
That is so wonderful!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your story!

Thanks for sharing the wonderful photos!! :D

I pulled out one of my quilting art videos and showed her the 7 year old who quilts...lets hope she wants to quilt. She loves anything art related. She takes my scraps, ribbons, paper, glue, tape, boxes and makes dimensional figures and characters with them. If she could put her vision onto quilts it would be very exciting for her. (and Me!)

Your little girl is so pretty, and made a pretty pillow mom. I worked for 15 years as a special education teacher, and I had the honor to work with 4 different children with autism. We can learn so much from them. Yes, your little girl climbed over a big mountain. So proud of her.
