Verna2197 I'm making the block now and as I go I'm taking pictures. Candlequilter has given me permission to put together a pictorial tute so you have a pretty good idea as to which way to turn the fabrics and the size the fabrics should be. This should eliminate a lot seam ripping and resewing. I'm still working on the tute and when I finish it I'll send it to Candlequilter for her comments and approval, then post it here. I'm hoping to have it done by tomorrow morning. ***Here's a big hint: Do all the same steps for each section at the same time.*** Once you figure out the fabric placement, sew all of them so you don't have to rethink any positioning. Hopefully, you'll find this block a rewarding one. I am excited to be part of this project and I hope you'll be too! Blessings, Homemother |
Well however you did it....it looks GREAT!!!

For those of you who haven't started yet, next time I would choose FOUR colours of different value (my trying to stick to red, white and blue was not a good idea). I ended up having to do some machine embroidery around the points to delineate the points of the star so they don't get lost. And that's one of the areas I had lots of trouble. The machine embroidery stitch I chose was one of those "2 forward, 2 back" stitches, which I thought would make the line show up better, but it was difficult at the point of the star, and ripping that kind of stitch out is not easy.
Also, when you PP the second colour on the second smaller piece of each section, I had trouble visualizing how to cut the piece of fabric to use for the diagonal seam you have to do. Near the end, I realized that by NOT cutting the piece of fabric ahead of time ie. using the whole big piece of cloth when I sew it on was the best way, and then cutting it later. (Sounds weird, but it worked for me). Anyway - it's on its way!!! Thanks Candlequilter for the opportunity to stretch, grow, and learn!!!!! C9P |
Hi All,
The tute won't be done this morning - I've got to go to work but I will have it done in the next day or so. Homemother |
That's awesome, I'll paperpiece the pieces, then I'll wait to see how to put them all together. Thanks so much for your willingness to do this for us. Wendy

Here's my second Candlequilter Star. It was much easier the second go around. I supposed it gets easier with each block.
Hope you like it! |
Beautiful, love the colors and fabric, Homemother

Many thanks in advance! Your suggestion also makes a lot of sense - I just wouldn't have thought of it:)

LOVE it! The stitching around the white points looks great!
