I am making my 3rd quilt, without a pattern. eek! Now I know why I should stick to a pattern. Too many decisions.
I need to make it 9" bigger all around. I am out of half sq triangles, so no matter what I do, I will be cutting more. Should I A. continue one more row all around ending in 1/2 square light diamonds all around. B. make a full row all around with scrappy dark HS triangles (shown in second pic). C. Border all around in a 9" strip of dark or light (maybe 4 1/2 of each?) fabric D. any other brilliant ideas? Twin with 9" blocks idea B this is a narrow light blue, wide dark blue |
I like the dark border

You have a really nice quilt!
9" extra is only 4-1/2" for each side, so I'd head to the borders now! |

That's very pretty - and great job without a pattern!
Two borders, 1.5" light grey then either dark grey or dark blue in 3" border. does it need to be EXACTLY 9" larger, or AT LEAST 9" larger? |
I like the idea of 41/2 " border.
|
Actually it needs to be 18" wider and longer. 9" all around.

Dark

I might do a thinner light border about 2 inches(1.5 finished) followed by a 3.5 inch in the dark.

Thanks for the clarification ...
9" all around ... that'd be one full set of blocks longer and wider. |
