Thanks for all the input.

Like your idea of a variety of colors. Brights that match the colors in the black fabric and black sashing with piano key boarders would make a very striking quilt. I have 3 grandsons that play trumpet and one who plays trombone and piano.

orange or blue would work for me

The orange would work. However, I would be inclined to go for a black and white stripe or check. I feel it would look more funky for a boy. To my mind, a polka dot would look a bit feminine.

You could pick up that blue as well. This will be very nice when done. Thanks for sharing.

Yea, that pink is girlie, theres no way a boy would have pink in his room. I would go with solids, blue, green and purple.
Boy colors. I would make blocks using all three of these colors to add a lot of color and interest. I would also use children prints to piece the block. ericas.com has some great black and white fabrics with dogs, bugs, stars. And some really great black
and colored fabrics.

How about blue or green that is in the black fabric.

I would ask him what color he would like,

piepatch 05-02-2011 04:57 AM

The yellow in the black fabric. Yellow and black are striking together, or since it is for a boy, maybe the blue.
